Boise to MWC Empty Boise to MWC

Post  BuckNasty Thu Jun 03, 2010 2:02 pm

Heard through the grapevine that the MWC has invited Boise to join or supposedly will this weekend. Of course there has been a lot of talk about this in recent days, but according to a very reliable source, it's going down and the official announcement will be Monday. Hopefully they will put some stipulation in the contract that they have to get rid of the smurf turf.

It's such a random pairing of schools (one small & private, the other large-ish and public...separated by 1,500+ miles...one with a long football history, the other a newcomer), but after having played three times in bowl games in the past decade, TCU and Boise State are going to become each other's main football rivals once they join the MWC. The first time they come to Fort Worth will be a big event.

It'll be interesting to watch this all unfold. If this whole 6 Big XII teams to the PAC 10 happens, there's a AP article out now where CU's AD says he's been led to believe an offer will happen, the MWC plus Boise is all of the sudden a much stronger football conference than the Big XII-VI. Does the MWC then go after a couple of left overs? KU, KSU maybe?

I think the MWC goes after some Big 12 scraps and maybe even tries to get to 16 teams so they don't get left in the dust when the SUPER CONFERENCES come together.

If any/all of these rumors come true it looks as though it will be feast or famine.

How does this sound as a 12-team conference:

East Division:
TCU
Kansas
Kansas State
New Mexico
Colorado State
Air Force

West Division:
BYU
Utah
Boise State
Wyoming
San Diego State
UNLV

Norm had Chip Brown on this morning and he was talking about how A&M might go out on their own and join the SEC and how UT wants their own network becuase they can earn 3x more if they had that. Also, our good friend Dick "Douchebag" Justice wrote in the Chronicle this morning about Cougar High joing the Big 12. What a tool.

That's probably how it would shake out, but I would prefer to play BYU Utah and Boise. I guess with the SEC style setup each eastern team has one set opponent they play ever year and the two others that rotate. I would assume ours would be Boise. Pretty strong conference regardless.

Oh and this leaves Baylor out in the cold, another huge plus.
